A motorcycle escape shown to Edge goes wrong after a spike strip and a police dog get involved. Here’s what the sequence reveals about GTA 6.
A getaway goes wrong in seconds
During the demonstration seen by Edge, Jason and Lucia try to lose the police on a stolen motorcycle. The player can switch characters, letting one drive while the other returns fire at the vehicles chasing them. But the police have already prepared the road: a spike strip laid across the street is hard to spot in the dark. The front tire blows, and both protagonists are thrown to the ground.
K-9 units join the pursuit
As the pair try to continue on foot, a police dog catches up with them. The animal takes down Jason, ending any hope of an easy escape through the alleys. This sequence, described by Edge, confirms at least that a K-9 unit appears in the version shown. It doesn’t yet establish that dogs will intervene every time or track scents across Leonida in complex ways.
Obstacles to plan for
Spike strips are particularly interesting because they make players watch the road and consider an alternate route. Combined with the new fuel management, vehicle condition, and intelligence gathered by the police, every pursuit could play out differently. A planned escape carries different risks from an improvised getaway on a motorcycle picked up at random.
What remains to be checked in the final version
The frequency of spike strips, dog behavior, ways to avoid them, and the wanted levels that trigger these interventions all remain to be documented. Leonida Gang will prepare escape guides based on repeatable tests after release, without making up techniques before they’ve been tested.
